Additional information will be provided and registration will open in early Fall.  Classroom registration will be limited to 40 people.

The Skill and Science behind Housing Rehabilitation Projects 
Inspections, Specification Writing and Cost Estimating

This classroom training is focused on inspections, specification writing and cost estimating for housing rehabilitation specialists.  This will be an interactive session with many opportunities for peer information exchange.  This course will stress the need for systematic inspections, that are customized for the type of location.  The agenda is included below. 

Agenda

1. Introduction
   • An explanation of the series of sessions.
   • The format for the next 7 sessions.
   • An overview of the key topic areas that will be addressed in each session.
   • Time tested systems for the thorough and efficient inspection of homes.
2. Exterior and Site
3. Basements and Crawl Spaces
4. Kitchens
5. Bathrooms
6. Generic Interior Rooms (Livingroom, dining room, halls, etc.)
7. Stairs
8. Attic

Note: each of the Location-Based Modules (#2 through #8) will include:

• The State’s Residential Rehab Standards (RRS)
• Inspection Techniques, and Tools
• Environmental issues
• The applicable Building Science for problem diagnosis and solutions
• Specification Writing and Cost Estimating
