As you are enjoying this Holiday Season please make sure you have registered for our Winter Meeting January 24th and 25th 2024. We have a great agenda for the meeting with timely presentations about programs you can use to improve your community.
On Wednesday, Amy Riegel, the Executive Director of the Coalition on Housing and Homelessness in Ohio (COHHIO) will give us an update on the state of homelessness in Ohio and review some new state programs to combat homelessness. Cody Morrow of Washington Morgan Community Action Partnership will present on Supportive Services for Veterans Families. We will also have our informative and up to date Legislative Update from Tony Core. We will end the day with an important business meeting at 12:30.
Thursday’s presentations begin with a Healthy Homes update from Armand Magnelli followed by a presentation on the Dayton Energy Collaborative with an overview of how Emergency Assistance Providers are collaborating to improve the lives of Dayton area residents. Thursday’s presentations close with Julie Donant, the CEO of the Domestic Violence Project, Inc (DVPI). In 2023, DVPI was selected as one of 100 community projects, the only one in Ohio, as part of Lowe’s Hometowns, the company’s largest-ever community impact program. The presentation will include the details of the grant process and the outcomes of DVPI's project renovations.
As you can see, this virtual two-day meeting has a lot of relevant information packed in and ready for you to put to use in your community. We are also offering a timely training in January on Ohio Prevailing Wage and a subsequent training in April on Davis Bacon Labor Standards, both relevant for anyone dealing with American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Funding.
Best wishes for a safe and fun Holiday Season and we look forward to seeing you at our Virtual Winter Meeting next month!
Adam Blake, Vice President, OCCD
